3. Complete decongestant treatment


Comprehensive decongestive rehabilitation is an effective method of treating lymphedema, which is now becoming increasingly aggressive. It is successfully implemented in many countries. May result in 55-65% reduction in lymphedematous upper limb volume and up to 65% reduction in lymphedematous lower limb volume (Moseley et al, 2007, Kim and Park, 2008).
The objectives are:

  1. Facilitating the movement of lymph,
  2. The reduction of fibrous tissue ,
  3. Improving the shape of the member for a better application of compression elastic stocking ,
  4. Improving the condition of the skin,
  5. Information - education of the patient.

The special physical therapy program will include:

  1. Assessment to control the patient's course ,
  2. Lymphatic Massage or Special massage bandage in combination with Intermittent Compression with Air Chambers (Lympha-Press),
  3. Multilayer Lymphatic Compression Bandage,
  4. Special Exercise,
  5. Information-Education of the patient,
  6. Application of elastic stocking after order, based on the dimensions of the future.
Program duration: 3 weeks (15 working days).If deemed necessary by the multifactorial team, the program can be extended in specific patients beyond three weeks. .
