ELEMENTARY EDUCATION DEPARTMENT OF LARISA PRIMARY EDUCATION
The Department of Primary Education - "School" which is housed on the premises of the library is intended to meet the needs for school assistance of children who are hospitalized continuing their education while sick. One of the biggest problems seems to be in children who are hospitalized their cut off from the school environment and the their effects both on their school development and on their mental health health in general. Basic position of the administration of P.G.N.L. it's all the children the small health users to have the right to continue the their education while they are sick and in hospital.
ORGANIZATION & OPERATION
The educational intervention takes place at the Hospital site in an appropriate setting classroom, either in groups when conditions allow, or individually in the ward. The department has a teacher – teacher who communicates with the headmistress, doctors, parents and many times with his regular school teacher of a child. The children come from all over Greece and abroad they attend classes in the elementary classes. The students who they accept the help of the teacher are usually the ones who are hospitalized more than three days or suffer from chronic diseases and they come in and out of our hospital.
OBJECTIVE
It is the assurance of educational continuity, the building of a climate confidence so that the child can maintain his self-esteem, without be adversely affected by the hospital environment. The students they need to feel accepted and important from the position they are in and experience love. The child will believe that he can succeed performing familiar familiar activities such as his favourites lessons. Let us not forget that the conditions in hospitals create in children tensions, stress, psychological instability, mainly from lack of communication with their friends and classmates and cutting them off from the school environment. His work educator-teacher is to encourage parents-guardians to they take an active part in various school activities where they are possible ensuring the best way in the child's effort them in responding for more positive outcomes in hospitalization. For all the above the hospital provides to these children so that keep in touch with their school access to the internet, access in the children's lending library, Computers and educational software of the Ministry of Education. Contact with them their classmates by phone, fax, e-mail. Parallel variety game activities, school-religious holidays, painting, music, foreign languages. Finally, I want to emphasize that the children who belong to this section, they are not children who need a specialist assistance and therefore a special education program, but children with a normal mind, thought and perception commensurate with those of her children their age. The Department of Secondary Education has been operating since 2009. THE teaching for each child lasts from about an hour to four.
